Hello friends and art lovers,

It's showtime!! I've had a busy spring preparing for a show at Blue Star Gallery in Asheville, NC. I am newly represented at Blue Star Gallery and am very excited to actually visit the gallery in person for the first time, and to be there for the opening reception which will take place Saturday, May 23rd. I will be present to meet and greet, and demonstrate too, from 3-7. There will be live music, wine and snacks as well.

I collect quotes. So when I consulted my list to determine a title, or at least a way to describe the “essence” of this body of work, Georgia O’Keeffe’s quote

is what jumped out for me.
|
The spirit and nature of a landscape, what you take away in your memory, is what I paint, rather than a realistic representation. When invited to have a showing at Blue Star Gallery, my experience living near the Blue Ridge Mountains, and visiting friends and relatives on the Eastern Shore, helped revive these memories and images.

Along with numerous of my larger paintings, there will be many "minis", which are how I begin the process of creating the larger paintings. If the mini makes the "cut" then I might work it up into a larger format. Here are a few of the minis in the show:

Another upcoming (free) event I will be participating in is the annual Plein Air Fest at the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, on Saturday, June 13. Nearly 50 invited artists are given one day to create new masterpieces en plein air (outside).

|
|
|
|
|
